Thousand Island Dressing

Goodbye forever store-bought Thousand Island

by Kristen Ward | Ivory Table

This quick and easy homemade Thousand Island Dressing recipe will revolutionize your dressing game as the perfect condiment for fresh salads and sandwiches, and it just might be the best fry sauce you’ve ever had.

This recipe is the love child between a classic Thousand Island and Russian dressing. Russian dressing is similar to a Thousand Island but contains tangy sour cream in its base and Worcestershire sauce, chili sauce, and paprika for a kick.

I developed this recipe specifically for our beloved Reuben Sandwiches and the popular Reuben Sliders on Pretzel Buns that flew out the door at The Ivory Table Cafe. I knew the dressing had to be zesty, creamy, slightly crunchy, and packed with flavor to stand up to the mounds of corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. Over time, we noticed increasing requests for the “side of Thousand Island, please.” We had to make extra Thousand Island dressing daily to meet the demand for side orders. Melty sandwiches, crunchy salads, and crispy french fries alike found their way into the small ramekins of this delightful sauce-the ultimate condiment.

Serve this dressing with your favorite cruditƩs platter, relish tray, or fresh salad. Spread it over burgers and sandwiches, or serve it with your favorite fried fish or potatoes.

I served this dressing with the Spring Crudites Platter, also on this website. It is the best Thousand Island dressing ever! We dipped cold peeled shrimp into this lovely mixture and it was fantastic. Thanks for the great recipe
